New to the Library

What I love about working in the library is that I get to see all the new books that come in. So as I was looking on our new shelf of books I came across these four titles that looked really good.

Adult Book

I love Keri Arthur. I have read all her Riley Jenson books and this is the seventh book in the series. In this installment you find Riley hunting down a powerful sorceress who can raise the dead to do her killing. Plus Riley is caught between her steady vampire Quinn and her growing crush on the sexy bounty hunter rogue wolf Kye Murphy. I can't wait to read it.

Adult Book

Jillian Hoffman is the bestselling author of Retribution. I haven't read any of her books but
Plea of Insanity sounds intense. Julia Vacanti is a young ambitious prosecutor facing a case that could launch her career. The defendant is David Marquette a successful Miami surgeon and devoted family man that is accused of killing his wife and three children. The plea is Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. Just reading the first few lines peaks my interest. Maybe it peaks yours as well.

YA Book

In King of the Screwups Liam Geller is Mr. Popularity. Everybody loves him and he excels at everything. But like a typical teenage boy he has a knack also for screwing up. His father throws him out of the house and Liam is taken in by his gay glam-rocker disc jockey uncle. Liam has a chance to start over and be everything his father wants him to be but his "Aunt" Pete see him for who he really is and Liam has to decide which version of himself he can live with. Sounds good!

YA Book

Fate is the sequel to Tattoo. So I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who wants to read these books in order.

What I'm reading right now

Right now I have been reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series like a mad woman. I can't read them fast enough. They are that good. These books are rooted in Greek and Atlantean mythology. They have Gods, vampires, were animals, romance, danger, humor, and so much more. I can't believe it took me this long to pick these books out. If you haven't read anything by her please go to the library now and get the first book in the series Fantasy Lover. If you like all of the above you wont' be disappointed. Her website is http://www.dark-hunter.com/.

Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs

Reading Level: Adult
(4 out of 5)

This is the fourth book in the Mercy Thompson series and I'm totally hooked. I love this series and I'm very happy to know that Mrs. Briggs was commissioned to do at least 3 more. I'm doing a little happy dance. These books are full of fun characters and things that go bump in the night. Mercy is a skin walker. She can shift to her coyote self at will. Her mate Adam is a werewolf, her former boss and close friend Zee is part of the Fae, and another close friend Stefan is a vampire. This book finds Mercy coping with being raped. She gets an unexpected visit from a rather crispy and beaten up Stefan letting Mercy know that his Mistress Marsilia has found out that she killed Andre and is not happy. While Mercy does have the werewolves protecting her Marsilia does not mind killing anyone who gets in her way. There is someone out there more dangerous than Marsilia and he wants Mercy for himself.

Midnight Breed Series by Lara Adrian

Reading Level: Adult
(4 out of 5)

Vampires are real and they are called the Breed. A few of the Breed are warriors known as the Order. They protect the rest of the Breed and humans from the vampires that have gone Rogue. A Rogue has succumbed to bloodlust. Vampires may have to live on blood to survive but if they let the lust for blood take over they turn into a blood addicted monster openly feeding on anyone that comes in their path. The order consists of Lucan, Tegan, Gideon, Dante, Nikolai, Rio, and Conlan.

Kiss of Midnight is Lucan and Gabrielle's story. Lucan is the leader of the Order and he is fighting off the first stages of bloodlust. There is someone out there organizing the Rogues and making a whole lot of trouble for the Order. Lucan knows he isn't good for Gabrielle but Gabrielle may just be what he needs.

Kiss of Crimson is Dante and Tess's story. Marek the leader of the Rogues has developed a new drug called Crimson. It proves deadly to the Breed. One taste of it can send a vampire into bloodlust and that can turn them Rogue. The Order is on the Crimson trail and Tess is a distraction that Dante doesn't need but he can't seem to stay away from her.

Midnight Awakening is Tegan and Elise's story. Tegan is probably the deadliest of the warriors. He has ice in his veins but Elise helps to thaw him. Elise is a widow to one of the Breed and she has recently lost her sixteen year old son Camden. She takes it upon herself to get the justice she promised her son. Armed with weapons she stalks the Minion's (humans that have been enslaved by a master vampire) and kills them. Tegan and Elise team up to find out what Marek (the master vampire) is up to in Berlin.

The next books in the series are Midnight Rising (Rio's Story) and Veil of Midnight (Dante's Story). The six book will be out in May called Ashes of Midnight (Andreas Reichen's Story).

Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day

Reading Level: Adult
(4 out of 5)

"Eleven thousand years ago, before the seas swallowed the Atlanteans, Poseidon assigned a few chosen warriors to act as sentinels for humans in the new world. There was only one rule, desiring them was forbidden. But rules were made to be broken...(taken from the back of the book)"
Conlan is the high prince of Atlantis and for the past seven years he has lived in captivity by the vampire Queen Anubisa. Even though he was continuously tortured he never broke and Anubisa lets him go. When Conlan returns home he finds out that Poseidon's Trident has been stolen by one of the warriors. Conlan and his men leave the sunken Atlantis to go to the surface to find it. On the surface Conlan meets Riley Dawson a social worker that has the unique mind link ability that only Atlanteans have. Riley and Conlan are drawn together even though Conlan knows it should be forbidden.
This is book one in a series. The second book is Atlantis Awakening and the third book Atlantis Unleashed is due out sometime this year. Visit Ms. Day's website: http://www.alyssaday.com/.
