This book was like sinking my teeth into a triple layer fudge cake. So delicious and so rich. In Beautiful Darkness school is out. Ethan is looking forward to the summer with Lena, but Lena isn't the same girl she used to be a few months ago. Somehow she got away without claiming herself on her sixteenth birthday and she is in turmoil: good or bad, light or dark. Which one will she become? In order to protect the people she loves from herself she runs away with her cousin Ridley and the mysterious John Breed. But Ethan isn't going to just move on. He loves Lena and even if their relationship is over he is determined to help her. So with the help of his best friend Link and keeper in training Liv they embark on a dangerous mission: find the fabled great barrier and save Lena.
The Castor world of the tunnels come alive in this book. You only got a taste in Beautiful Creatures, in Beautiful Darkness you get the tour. Things really aren't what they seem. I'm thrilled that it looks like there will at least be two more in the series. One coming out in 2011 and one in 2012.

I just finished reading this last night. I loved it and would also give it 4 out of 5 stars. I think my favorite part is that the ending leaves it wide open for a third book.
